16 May Rahmo: Loyalty vs Location (Celebrating 5 years of caring)
Rahmo Mohamed celebrated her 5-year work anniversary with Acacia Homecare on May 8th 2024. The celebration doesn’t end there, as she also received news that she was made a finalist in the category of The Joy Maker for the Stars in Social Care Award.
Before Rahmo joined Acacia Homecare as a care worker, she was a housewife and did some part-time cleaning work as well as looking after her children. Having decided she wanted to secure herself a permanent job and despite being unsuccessful with other companies, she searched online and saw a job advert for us. Acacia Homecare saw potential in Rahmo and offered her a role after she went out to do some shadowing with some of the more experienced carers. Her kind and caring nature shone through immediately.
After a year or two, Rahmo received news from her council that her current accommodation was no longer available and that she would have to be rehoused to Harrow. Everyone at Acacia was saddened by this news as the move meant she would be too far away to carry out her duties, and that she could easily find a care role closer to her. However, Rahmo quickly confirmed that she wished to stay as she “finds everyone at Acacia Homecare to be a family and more than just a company I work for.” Rahmo could not bear to find care work with another company, and despite moving miles away, she continues to travel into North West Surrey and care for customers. She said of her customers, “I love my customers and making them happy, but most of all, I love this job that I can do with such a lovely team.”
The customers also love Rahmo, with one in particular expressing pleasure with Rahmo for helping her ensure her house was kept clean, and others particularly appreciating her cooking skills, with some saying their meals are delicious! One of our long-standing customers recently wrote a review:
