25 Nov Rosemary’s Journey with Acacia Homecare – From Domiciliary to Live-In Care
Rosemary’s story is a testament to Acacia Homecare’s flexibility, highlighting how we seamlessly transitioned from providing domiciliary care to live-in care, ensuring her safety, comfort, and well-being.
Starting with Domiciliary Care
Rosemary first joined Acacia Homecare in early 2023. Initially, she required assistance in the mornings with personal care, medication management and tidying up. These routine visits helped her maintain her independence and daily structure.
As time went on, Rosemary recognised the need for additional support at night. This included help with personal care, getting into her nightwear, and preparing for bed. To address this, we scheduled evening visits, ensuring she had the care she needed at both ends of her day.
A Change in Circumstances
Rosemary was able to use a stair lift for mobility but unfortunately, she experienced a fall that resulted in a hospital stay. Upon returning home, her health and mobility had significantly declined. Tasks that she once managed independently became increasingly challenging.
There was concern about her safety, Rosemary and her two stepdaughters decided it was time for more comprehensive care. They concluded that having someone with Rosemary at all times was important to prevent situations where she might fall and remain unattended until a carer’s visit.
Transitioning to Live-In Care
Rosemary’s stepdaughter contacted our Customer Care Lead, Dee, to discuss the possibility of live-in care. Dee promptly visited the family to conduct a thorough assessment, ensuring Acacia Homecare could provide the right level of care tailored to Rosemary’s new needs.
The assessment went smoothly and a start date was arranged for October 2023. We carefully selected a compassionate and qualified live-in carer who could provide round-the-clock support.
Making a Difference with Live-In Care
Since transitioning to live-in care, Rosemary has felt a renewed sense of safety and peace of mind. Having a carer with her at all times has made a significant difference, not only for her physical well-being but also for her emotional comfort.
Her beloved dog, Henry, remains a source of joy and companionship, and our live-in carer ensures Henry’s needs are also met, strengthening the sense of home and stability Rosemary values.
Dee continues to visit every two weeks to check in with Rosemary and her carer, ensuring that the care plan is running smoothly and addressing any concerns promptly.
